Who we are
Suggested text: The address of our website is: https://www.louthpatios.ie.
Comments
Suggested text: When someone leaves a comment on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form. We also collect the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string, which helps us spot spam.
We may pass an anonymised string made from your email address (known as a hash) to the Gravatar service to check whether you use it. You can read the Gravatar service Privacy Policy here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture is visible to the public alongside your comment.
Media
Suggested text: If you upload images to the website, don’t include images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Anyone visiting the website can download images and pull out any location data in them.
Cookies
Suggested text: If you leave a comment on our site, you can choose to save your name, email address and website in cookies. This is just for convenience, so you don’t have to type your details in again the next time you comment. These cookies last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we set a temporary cookie to check whether your browser accepts cookies. It holds no personal data and is deleted when you close your browser.
When you log in, we also set up a few cookies to save your login details and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login stays active for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies are removed.
If you edit or publish an article, another cookie is saved in your browser. It holds no personal data and only records the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Embedded content from other websites
Suggested text: Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites works exactly as if the visitor had gone to the other website directly.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, add their own third party tracking, and monitor how you interact with that embedded content. This includes tracking your activity if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Who we share your data with
Suggested text: If you ask for a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
How long we retain your data
Suggested text: If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are kept indefinitely. That way we can recognise and approve any follow up comments automatically, rather than leaving them in a moderation queue.
For users who register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they give us in their user profile. All users can see, edit or delete their personal information at any time, apart from their username, which can’t be changed. Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
Suggested text: If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can ask for an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including anything you have given us. You can also ask us to erase any personal data we hold about you. This doesn’t cover data we have to keep for administrative, legal or security reasons.
Where your data is sent
Suggested text: Visitor comments may be run through an automated spam detection service.
